A tiny set back …

So it has been a couple of weeks since I posted as there have been a couple of obstacles that have taken up my time and the thought of spending more time at my screen was just too much! Anyway ... The clinic I went to see a couple of weeks was brand spanking new. Shiny, new and a wee bit premature. Unfortunately there was some documentation that the clinic didn't have in place just yet, so they weren't able to start my procedures until January. Also not a definite January, but a probably ...

Appointment 1 of ? …

So the day has finally arrived. The day I actually go and speak to a real life breathing professional about my next steps. I am still 115% convinced that I am going to rock up and someone is going to laugh hysterically and declare, 'NOT YOU,' ... 'you've got to be kidding me. You are too old / childish / scruffy / cake loving / single to have this procedure. You are categorically not allowed to even try this. No way Jose.' So in preparation for this appointment I was going to get prepared. I ...

Out of my depth …

I am sat sniffling through a cold, doing my homework. It has become clear to me that I am pretty out of my depth in the fertility field. Every time I think I am turning a corner with knowing the lay of the land, I come across something else to look into or make a decision about or note down to ask at the clinic. First appointment …

Also it is not like the team there are all newly qualified and are finding their way ... it is essentially a team of skilled professionals setting up in a shiny new premises. It is all above board, I have checked! Anyway because it is a new team in a new building, I have had to wait a few months ...

Friends in brilliant places …

You know when something is going on in your life and suddenly things you hadn't really noticed before become like flashing neon signs ... like when you fancy someone and suddenly every song was written for you, you are on a diet and all adverts are for burgers and chips or when you have no money and The Perfect Pair of Boots keep coming up as featured ads? My life has become like that, but in an area I literally know nothing about (i.e. fertility treatments) I have two friends who work in ...

Add to Basket …

So having taken advise and looked into it thoroughly, for various reasons I have decided that I am going I am going to get my sperm from a Danish bank. 'Going to get my sperm' ... sentences I never thought I would say! It is also totally hilarious to me how clinical it all is. Such sexy chat. Anyway, who wouldn't want a Viking baby? Denmark is consistently rated the happiest nation in the world, they live their life in a state of hygge (something I have unknowingly abided by all my life ... ...

Eggs, eggs, eggs …

Is it just me or does the London Women’s Clinic magazine have a seriously unfortunate title for a fertility centre? I realise that it is the plural of ovum/egg but it also quite clearly is a word that means the end. This shouldn’t been the end. This is the beginning. They are giving people a new start. Having said that, the LWC have been amazing in giving me any literature at all … but this did tickle me!
